I never thought this day would come! After all the complications, sicknesses and assorted dramas that paved their path to coupledom, Steff and KG finally said their I Do's last saturday. It was a beautiful wedding and a very intimate reception. The guestlist was just below 120 and we all had a blast! Steff was absolutely radiant and was glowing that night and KG was just the happiest :)

The couple are off to India on Monday (Steff forgot to book their tickets for their Sunday flight! haha!) for their weeklong nuptial celebrations in Chennai.

To Steff and KG, Mabuhay ang Bagong Kasal! Live well, laugh often and Love Always! Mwah!

Blog EntryJo's Music GameApr 7, '08 1:17 AM
for everyone

I got tagged by Jo! I'll be answering my tags one by one :D I'm going to start with this fun one first :D

Here are the instructions of the tag:

1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)

2. Put it on shuffle or random play.

3. Look at the first question/number below. Press play.

4. Type the title of the song that's playing.

5. When you go to the next question/number, press the "next" button to go to the next song and type the title of the song that's playing, and so on and so forth....

6. DON'T LIE! (and dont press "next" to get another song if you don't like the song corresponding to the question/number below!) That's not cool!

7. When you're finished, tag some other people to do it :)

My mp3 folders in my work pc are ridiculously disorganized. I only have 2 playlists in my media player, playlist 2007 and playlist 2008. Playlist 2007 contains all of my mp3s and playlist 2008 is my playlist 2007 plus more new songs. I still have some mp3 folders stashed somewhere but I have yet to upload them to my player. My media player puts the estimated time of Playlist 2008 at 34 hours, 41 minutes and 57 seconds.

1.OPENING CREDITSNew Age by Tori Amos --- promptly dozed off :p (Tori! Be happy naman please???)

2. WAKING UP>  Superhero - Jane's Addicton -- from the Entourage Soundtrack (yung opening theme ng show) -- i love the guitars on this, dave navarro rocks at syempre yung ending "YEAH!! OH YEAAAH!!!"

3. FIRST DAY Of SCHOOL> Champagne Supernova -- Matt Pond PA (from the OC 4 Soundrack)-- "where were you while we were getting high???" (lutang ako sa UP! haha) I think Matt Pond PA's version is better (they're a quartet), mas contemplative, made me listen to the song more. Nakaka distract yung whiny singing ng Gallagher brothers :p

4. FALLING IN LOVE>  Iio - Is it Love (naaaks galing naman!! di ko to dinaya hehehe. this is from hed kandi's back to love compilation) "I never knew a love, A love that could be sweeter, No matter what my mind says, Your music gives me fever"

5. FIGHT SONG>   Last Goodbye - Atomic Kitten (hahaha sorry may best of atomic kitten ako hehehe!! at memorize ko to!!)..."If you had another night to give, I would have another night to live, But you're never gonna see me cry the last goodbye..."

6. BREAKING UP> Feels Like Heaven - Fiction Factory ('80s!!) ---- eeerm sige, if you're breaking up with a total  jackass maybe breaking up would really feel like heaven :P

7. PROM>  Biyaheng Impiyerno - Siakol ahahahaha!!!!!

8. LIFE>  Wednesday - Tori Amos ("Nothing here to fear, I'm just sitting around, being foolish when there is work to be done")... song of my life!!!!

9. MENTAL BREAKDOWN>  Scarecrow - Beck ("Walking to the other side, With the devil trying to take my mind And my soul's just a silhouette, On the ashes of a cigarette....") wala, mas bagay dito yung Prom song ko hahaha

10. DRIVING> Terence Trent D'Arby - Wishing Well -- "Wish me love a wishing well, To kiss and tell"...asan na sya??

11. FLASHBACK>  Liz Phair - Sometimes a Dream (Is What Makes You A Slave) --- from Liz Phairs's demo tapes (yep cassette tapes), yeaaars before she took all those singing lessons and repackaged herself as a hotter sheryl crow hehehe (Bubblegum, bubblegum in a dish, How many pieces do you wish?, My mother told me to pick the very best one, And you are it)

12. GETTING BACK TOGETHER>  Step Back in Time - Kylie Minogue --- nothing says i wanna try it again than "I wanna funk, I wanna f-f-u f-u-n-k"

13. WEDDING SONG >  Motion City soundtrack - My Favorite Accident --- actually a break up song hehehe pero going by the title, aren't a lot of weddings born out of happy accidents? hehehe (pun not intended)

14. BIRTH Of CHILD> -- Come into My World - Kylie Minogue -- hahaha bongga pwede to sa anak namin ni dan!!! dapat i-play to after ng binyag (Instead of Welcome to the Christian World, Come to my Christian World! hahaha!) tapos lahat ng pagongs would be dressed up as fairy godmothers pa talaga (Kawawang Wally :D)

15. FINAL BATTLE> Dropping Bombs on the White House -- The Style Council (yes the same dudes who did My Ever Changing Moods, pero this one's an instrumental), pag nangyari yan...it's the final battle for all of us!!!

16. DEATH SCENE>  The Tide is High (I Get the Feeling) - Atomic Kitten -- "The tide is high but I'm holding on, I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that, oh noooo!" (ayaw sumuko hahaha, pang death scene talaga)

17. FUNERAL SONG>  Parang - Arnell Ignacio (Metropop 2003 Song Festival CD) -"paano na lang buhay ko pag walang nagmamahal, parang kriminal na sinentensya!"....ahahaha yung style pa nya pang '40s vaudeville pa, tama pang funeral nga :P

18. END CREDITS> The Dawn - Beyond the Bend ---niiiiiiiiiceeee. Jet Pangan's voice is so distinct!

Your turn guys...I am tagging, Ana Bautista, Ela Tan, Ben Fincale, Gracie Angeles, Candy Chu and Steph Lau

Our gift for O is the Fotoloco Photobooth for her reception :) Everyone chipped in so that O would get the booth which really is a fun addition to any event. We turned over the collection by presenting O and Seanu with a big check a few days before their wedding :P We made an event of the afternoon by posing for group pics. I think we have yet to choose one for printing though :P Hoy mamili na tayo!

P.S.
We also turned the day into a Threadless day! All of us wore our favorite Threadless shirt and had a group pic taken :) I have yet to send this to threadless.com though hehe

Osang's marriage to Seanu registered high on everyone's scale including PAG-ASA's which recorded it as one of the hottest days in Philippine history =D The bride wore a resplendent lace gown and was absolutely radiant! The gown had a removable hem and bolero which turned O's gown into a cute cocktail dress for their reception. It was very weather appropriate to say the least :D Seanu was dapper in his suit and we never saw him sweat!! Cool cat :D

O's colors were yellow, brown and silver, the overall theme was vintage. The colors were vibrant and perfect for summer :D Everyone enjoyed the day but it was bittersweet for all of us knowing that O will be moving to Singapore in a few months to be with Seanu :( We're all happy just the same to see Osang and Seanu so happy together. We knew the union was for forever when they both danced Flo-rida's Low in front of O's lola! With matching ass shaking and booty slapping pa! hahaha!

To Seanu and O! Congrats!! MWAH!

when dan and i booked santuario de san jose, we set out to look for reception areas nearby so that our guests wouldn't have to travel far (knowing how traffic can be terrible in ortigas on the weekends). we purposefully avoided hotels, knowing how stuffy hotel receptions can be. hotel food has always been a hit or miss with us as well. so one of the first places dan and i went to was the wack-wack golf and country club. however, wwgc only had 2 accredited caterers, which meant that we were stuck with their caterers both of whom were pricey (VS&F and the Plaza). so dan and i went around, even going to bramante (renaissance towers) which depressed us because that condo building is in a serious state of disrepair! we imagined our guests going up the flight of stairs (the elevators then were broken) and seeing the torn-off ceiling boards and water stained walls leading to the pool area, with plants that were barely alive :(. haay! i told dan that maybe we should check out crowne, it was a fairly new hotel and if it still didn't work out, we could always go to the nearby galleria to console ourselves with some cinnabon :)

when we went up to crowne, there was a reception being set-up and we saw the ballroom! it was the right size to accommodate our targeted numer of guests (220 max then, which went up to 300, then 320 on the wedding day itself!). it didn't have any dark wood, it had a foyer for cocktails, it was modern and new. dan liked it right away!

so, we went to cinnabon, did a cost-benefit analysis of renting a pavillion at wwgc and ballroom a at crowne and they both came out the same! the benefit of booking a hotel reception too is that there are a lot of inclusions like the cake, bridal car, rooms, etc. plus, annav, one of my maid of honors who used to work in the food industry assured us that the food would be wonderful. friends who attended events at crowne also told us that they really loved the food there. if there was one non-negotiable for our reception, it would be the food.we wanted our guests to enjoy the food, sayang naman ang bayad if the food would just be bland and unexciting.

crowne and our AE, sanna lopez met our expectations. but, it really really helps to have a coordinator to set things straight, especially during the day of the wedding. first, dindi found out that the tables were being set up for 10 people well in fact, we arranged it for 12. dindi got on top of it and so was able to fix this right away. second, we were supposed to have a confetti shower for our first dance as part of crowne's wedding package. it was a new inclusion and we found out about it a week before our wedding. we opted for the shower but on the day itself, susanna apparently forgot to inform the supplier. the supplier was still in wack-wack when dan and i were about to make our grand entrance (our first dance was after our grand entrance). but que cera cera, it was not part of the plan anyway. dindi made do with her large poppers na lang for our grand entrance hehe. thank god for dndc :)

we kept our program short. we hired missy ferrer-litao to emcee to keep the pace of the program. we originally thought of having friends host the program but we wanted them to enjoy our reception as guests. we had two AVPs, one by shierdan and one by mimi + karl. we didn't have other AVPs anymore. honestly, i thought that having two was already being self-indulgent :P speeches were given by our best man (with an interpretative dance), our maid of honor, my dad, dan's parents and my tito lito (representing the limbagas). we said our thank yous after mimi and karl's AVP was shown and it was party time right after :D

we left at 1 a.m. and bid our goodbyes to dan's manresa friends who were still finishing up a bottle of chivas regal :P we were really tired at the end of the day but we were in bliss. after one year of preps and worrying, we were finally married!

dan and i had several non-negotiables when we were planning our wedding. one was that our church and reception be in the middle of quezon city (i live in tandang sora) and paranaque (dan lives in tahanan). the ortigas area was a pretty good compromise and i knew of several churches there that we could look into. exactly a week after dan proposed, we went to santuario de san jose in east greenhills. i knew this church as i attended masses with my family here when i was a kid. i still remember their old and kind irish parish priest who has since passed on. i love this church for its altar and its stained glass windows. it was also just the right size.

the agenda for the day was to visit this church and mary the queen. when dan saw santuario though he made the decision to book the church then and there. we paid 5k for the deposit and a church for our union was thus booked :)

on the day itself, the wedding before us took forever to finish and ate into some of our time. i actually dozed off inside the limo as i was waiting for them to finish. while waiting, i saw dennis, ayoy, jsan and philip. i saw our ninongs, family and friends who made the effort to set aside their saturday to be with me and dan.

then the driver moved the limo to the front of the church. i saw the entourage lined up and saw dan milling around with all our other friends. mackie, ina, joanne, bles, anna and taps came up to me to wish me well and it was wonderful to see them! mimi went inside the limo to take some shots and we chatted about the movie, 27 dresses hehe.

then arlene from dindi's team came up to the car to tell me that "it was time". i screamed! i literally screamed AAAAAH! hahaha! it was an unbelievable feeling. i went outside the car and saw kitty, ton, karla and jeff outside. they were taking pics and were telling me not to cry! so of course on cue, hot tears started to well up in my eyes! i had to stomp my feet and tell myself "don't cry don't cry don't cry!", which actually worked! hahaha!

i went up to the door and i heard hangad's rendition of pananatili. another non-negotiable for me was to have a choir for the wedding. i grew up in katipunan and singing jesuit-penned liturgical songs were the norm for me and ej. so hangad was THE choice for me and my brother. ej gladly gifted us with them (ej! you're the best!). ironically though, i didn't hear much of hangad's pananatili when the doors opened, all i could hear was the beating of my own heart. it was sooo loud! i kept thinking to myself to not cry so i wouldn't do that ugly half-smile and half-cry that would look horrible in pictures.i was looking at everyone and i was looking for dan at the same time. then i walked up to my parents. it was surreal! dad told me "o sige dahan dahan, dahan dahan" aaargh, it was unbelievable that i didn't cry at that point. i felt i was walking on air though! i felt i was floating! it was all unbelievable! and then i saw dan...i walked up to him and he asked me, "ready?!" i said, "yep, this is it!"

and thus began forever...

i think i only slept for 5 hours and i woke up as soon as my alarm went off. i was trying to figure out whether i was feeling nervous but i wasn't. i remember feeling very anxious though. i was nervous that things may not go as planned but i had to let go as i wanted to enjoy the day. so i took a deep breath and exhaled all my worries away.

michelle, anna, kyra and ira were there with me (they spent the night with me at the hotel) and they made me laugh and kept me sane. anna, having been married a month before me knew what was needed to be done and thank god for her help and advice.

the first text that i got was from ej litiatco, our 2nd make-up artist, she set-up shop in ate sheila's room and everyone who needed to be done either went to her or to chichi. chichi was the 2nd to arrive, then dindi, then shierdan then mimi and karl. it was all just a blur, but i remember feeling absolutely happy. i was surrounded by family and great friends (whom i also consider family) and i knew at the end of the day i'd be marrying dan wally, the yin to my yang :)

these are pics taken by mimi and karl during our preparations. we were all squeezed in at room 1113 of Crowne Plaza's executive suite. we were all laughing and singing "panakip-butas" and chatting away like excited little chipmunks. chichi said this was one of her most fun preps ever. dindi's team couldn't believe how noisy we were also haha :D but once in a while i'd look around the room thinking how lucky dan and i were to have all these people working with us to bring our union to fruition. and then i snap out of it. the day was turning to be overwhelming and i was trying not to cry hehehe. i didn't want to ruin chichi's make-up haha!

The tarsier from L.A. and I went to U.P. for last minute wedding-related errands last Jan. 30. We went to the UP Shopping Center where I had our table numbers printed, went to Miranda Bookstore (buhay pa sya!) where she bought a bunch of bluebooks and of course ate lunch at the Chocolate Kiss.

It was a fun, fun day where we reminisced about our kabokyaans and then some ;)

Report number 1:

My husband has allergies! he is allergic to 22 out of 24 allergens, including shellfish *boo!*

24 droppers each containing an allergen were swiped onto Dan's skin and we waited for 20 minutes for any redness or swelling on the test areas. Out of the 24, he got 22! Binggo! His most severe reaction was to dust mites. The area really swelled up and got really itchy according to him.

the  test

The black lines are pentel pen marks which guided Dra. Ong when she was applying the allergens. She then scratched each area with a mini-blade to agitate the skin.

waiting for the results

That's Christie the secretary. She was scaring me and Dan with the results, galing diba?  When she found out that Dan loved seafood she pointed to one really angry red mark and told us "yan seafood yan!". Chika ka ate ha!

No worries though, Dan will be fine. He's taking his meds and is feeling less itchy. We will be going back to Dra. Ong of St. Luke's on Saturday for Dan's follow-up.

It's been almost a week after the wedding but Dan and I have yet to really recover and we both still feel really tired (oist get your minds out of the gutter! haha!). I still can't believe I'm married. The reality has yet to sink in. Nakakalimutan ko pa rin isuot wedding ring ko whenever I have to go out, sa bahay kasi di naman namin suot yung rings. Dan and I have also been exhausted, having to live out of our overnight bags  since Feb. 1 and shuffling between hotels, QC and Paranaque. Syempre Feb 1 asa Crowne kami, then Feb 3, I was at Tahanan, then Feb. 4-6 saw us cocooned at the Manila Pen. Mom booked us a room there as our house in QC was filled to the rafters with the crazy Arboledas (who are on a roundtrip chika tour of the Philippines as we speak). We went out on our last day of stay at the Pen to have lunch at via Mare and check out Greenbelt 5. I passed by Kiehl's to buy lotion and one of the attendants there asked me to fill out a card. As my usual practice, I wrote down, Neva Adelane L. Arboleda and then I quickly added "Santos". My whole name filled the top third of the card! hahaha! It was weird seeing my name like that. It's just so me though that this supposedly special event is connected to shopping :P

Haay Feb 2 went by so fast. I couldn't remember anything really except that Dan and I both felt really honored and really loved as we saw all our friends and family in one place celebrating our union together. But still, thank God for friends who blog and for friends with digicams. As I wait for Mimi +  Karl's official pics, here's some pics from EJ, Mackie, Ben, Shei, Laurene, Mariel, Ali, Anna Asuncion and Kate (sana wala akong nalimutan hehe thanks guys for letting me grab the pics)

more pics are found at Fotoloco

Also, Karl was experimenting with a new camera during our wedding. Grabe ang liit nung camera! I actually thought it was like a lomo camera (ano ba naman ang alam ko diba, I couldn't even operate the timer on my own digicam to save my life!) but no, it was a newfangled point and shoot cam daw that has the qualities of a basic dlsr...haaay basta, take a look at his pics na lang  kasi ang galing! As I posted in their blog, it's not the equipment really but the talent behind the lens. Iba talaga sina Mimi and Karl. Dan and I really invested in our wedding pics and the returns have been nothing but wonderful!

Here's the link to Karl's post and some pics of the wedding:

A Point and Shoot Wedding

Ben did a very gracious and very thoughtful wedding edition of his "whee of the week!". Thanks Ben talaga, it was really heartwarming (as in nakakainit ng taba na nakabalot sa aming puso! hehehe). Anna Asuncion also posted a blow-by-blow account of the big the day in her blog: http://bluelawbyanna.blogspot.com/2008/02/neva-and-dans-big-day.html

Haay maraming maraming salamat sa inyong lahat sa pagdalo at pakikisalo! Mwah!! Si Osang naman sunod! Hehehe =D

Blog Entry7 days!Jan 26, '08 9:59 AM
for everyone

i woke up today and realized that after 7 days, i'll be waking up to a whirlwind of preps and craziness called a wedding. i'm excited but just as scared. i'm pretty sure i'm going to tear up when i walk down the aisle. my friends have been telling me not to cry as seeing me would set them off crying also. i wouldn't want to hold back my tears though lest i have my face frozen in "ugly cry" mode  in photos. what i'd want though is to be calm even if i'm tearing up, if it's even possible. i need a hanky though, that's for sure.

but good news! good news! ! the balikbayans are coming in one by one. first up was manong aries, our honor attendant and his folks tito lito and tita jessie (who are still in dumaguete as we speak!). next was yeba yeba, grand archon tarsier extraordinaire michelle marie corpuz!! it's unbelievable that she's been gone for 8 years! i'm so happy that her papers and visa were processed in time for the wedding. michelle flew in last friday. dan and i picked her up from her house and we had dinner at katre afterwards. when michelle and i saw each other, we both let out a big scream! gaad it's so great that she's here :)

the next day, we all went to new yorker for the last fitting. some of our bridal party were able to bring their gowns home.  some of the gowns that still needed alterations will all be ready on tuesday! hurrah!

ira my kinakapatid and kababata with anna and michelle, my best mates!

ira wearing the lace overlay of her gown. kawaii!!

after the marathon fittings (which i think pissed one new yorker client off hehe :p sorry ha, but we were first :P) dan and i then went to recipes in greenbelt to have lunch with his family and cousins. we had the always reliable pinaputok na pla-pla and gising-gising. after that, we were given gifts by the family.  we were gifted with "essentials" that will help me and dan survive marriagehood such as:

The Kitchen Kama Sutra (thanks Joey and Leah! Grabe naman! haha! Dapat may kasamang salonpas tong librong to e!)

(pic from Randomhouse)

from Jill! Feeling ko mame-memorize ko tong libro na to sa kakabasa haha!

(pic from svspress)

we also got linen sprays and pampering products from marks and spencer from dan's ate sheila and jon and from karen and kate

after this, ira and michelle picked me up from the resto and we went to Friday's at Tomas Morato for another bridal shower naman and this time it's with the Pagongs and some Jorjools combined :D grabe lang ang saya! may pakulo pa na parang conference table at ang may hawak lang ng *ano* eh sya lang pwede magsalita. baliw mga baliw! lab yu ol! hehehe! mwah!!

pics of the afternoon delight are here

haay thanks guys for the fun saturday!

Blog Entryshowered again!Jan 20, '08 11:53 AM
for everyone

After Friday night, I woke up at 10 the next day, took a quick shower and went to New Yorker to bring Therese for her fitting. She is the last of the Manila-based bridal party members who still needs to be fitted. Best mate Michelle Marie Corpuz who will be landing in our shores on the 25th of January (THIS FRIDAY NAAA!) will be the last. She will have her fitting on the 26th and her gown will be picked up probably the day before the wedding na.

Therese what will you say? (I gave her the lolly kasi), she answers back, "Thank You, Welcome!" galing, efficient! sinasagot ang sarili! hahaha!

Dan picked me up at the shop and we went straight to Bles' apartment in Makati. I love her apartment! Ang laki ng space, exciting pa ang CR! haha! Pero serious, her flat is just the right size, di claustrophobic because of the high ceiling. My MCHS friends naman threw lunch for me and Dan (and belated Bday party na rin hehe) and Bles cooked steak!

punong abala, chief chef, broiled steak seasoning master!

(left): the apartment smelled so good while the steaks were cooking. (right): the finished product. i finished one and a half of these :P

kumpletos recados!! pero si dan nagkanin pa hehehe

bles, magy, asuncion! pahinging copy ng group pics natin hehe

clockwise from left: the steak and herbed marble potatoes, magy and bles, dan falling asleep after the hearty lunch, the patajos (anna was finishing a thesis kaya ganyan! haha!)

Thanks Bles, Anna, Magy and Taps for the great company and the delicious lunch :D let's do it again! Housewarming at Taps and Anna's and hopefully pwede na tayo mag frozen beer bash din hehe :D

After the great lunch, Dan and I went to Santuario De San Jose to submit our marriage license, church banns and church permission slips. The lady returned our checklist and we are finished! All boxes ticked! We then went to Tita Teody and Tito Ric and Dra. Oabel to drop off their invites. After those, we headed home where we finished cleaning up our guestlist and printed some more labels for our invites. Sunday saw me reviewing contracts, computing for on the day payments, wrapping our bible and the gifts for the bridal party and typing our acknowledgment receipts for payments to be made on Feb. 2.

Malapit na matapos! Yeba!!

for everyone

Namaos kami ni O last Friday. A joint bridal shower was thrown us for by our dear friends at RMG. Ang galing lang sobra! The games started at the 19th floor at around 6 p.m. at di na sya tumigil! on the way to the "secret place", may challenges pa kaming dapat gawin! Natapos kami ng mga 12-12:30, all tired from screaming (sa kilig ba o takot??!!! hahaha!) Thanks guys, sino na susunod? si Kitty, Jen at Krisna?! Wehehe

Pero eto, I will never listen to Ikaw Lamang, the same way again! (MADS NAMAN EEEE!!) AT Shei and Jen proved the power of sisterly love that night! Rescue 911 effect, sana di ka natrauma Jen! hehehe!

the willing victims

kasama to sa challenge ha! di naman daw magsasampa ng kaso si manong hehehe :P

Blog EntryI Do: Anna and Marvin Jan 14, '08 9:58 AM
for everyone

Anna and Marvin said their I'Do's last Saturday at Nuestra Senora De Gracia at Guadalupe. The gloomy weather didn't dampen anyone's spirits especially the bride who made the aisle her personal red carpet, greeting and talking to guests as she walked down the aisle to meet Marvin.

I was surprised to see Marvin and Anna taking pics at the 2nd floor of the Pen before they went to church! Tradition be damned!

Anna was absolutely glowing! She was one relaxed bride.

Nuestra Senora is definitely one of the city's most beautiful churches.

I think everyone got weepy when Marvin couldn't recite his vows because he was tearing up. When Anna saw Marvin crying though she laughed and shook her head from side to side! Loka!

The reception was held at Banquet A & B of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club. Maan and Edmond hosted. According to Robby, minus 5 daw si Edmond kasi ang daming mali hahaha!

Anna and I have the same stylist. Sunday Cabagay used low arrangements for the guest tables and a combination of high and low centerpieces for the VIPs. Guests took home the centerpieces. Paging na lang the jorjools people who took home "gardens!" ahaha!

I sat with Brenda, Edmond, Robby, Sharon, Bait, Dan, Jessica, Eric and Ira. Anong napala namin sa table namin? E di wala!! Hahaha!

May nabuo pang love team...lesbian nga lang haha!

To Anna and Marvin, we wish you bliss, love and lotsa lotsa laughter! Mwah!
